(Based on ED and NASFAA guidance provided as of 5/8/2020)

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act otherwise known as the CARES Act provides funding for students who have expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care.

Eligible students

• You must have a 2019-20 FAFSA on file reflecting a financial need
• You must be enrolled in at least one course as of March 23, 2020.
• You must meet all Title IV eligibility requirements:
  
  

  • Be a U.S.citizen or eligible noncitizen

  • Be registered with Selective Service (if male)

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Not in default on a student loan or owe money back on a federal grant

  • Be making Satisfactory Academic Progress or on an approved appeal

  • Enrolled in a Title IV eligible program

  • Not currently enrolled in High School

  • Completed statement of education purpose if required

Grant Amounts

• Full-time students (12 or more units): $500
• Part-time students (less than 12 units): $250
  Note: Per IRS, these grants are not considered taxable income.

Process to Receive Grants

• If you qualify, you will receive an email on how to certify that you have expenses related to coronavirus on WEBSTAR.
• This certification of expenses related to the disruption of operations due to coronavirus is required in order for you to receive this grant
• Payments will be made to your existing method of receiving financial aid
• If you are not currently receiving financial aid and have not chosen a method of disbursement on the BankMobile website, you will get a check.
• It is extremely important to make any necessary updates to your mailing address in WEBSTAR.
