Currently, Imperial Valley College offers an Associate's Degrees and Certificates of Achievement in Administration of Justice, Correctional Science, and Fire Technology, as well as prestigious training programs such as the Fire Academy (Firefighter I) and Police Academy (P.O.S.T., Peace Officer Standards and Training).

Society has a high demand for trained individuals to protect its people and communities. The programs at Imperial Valley College provide students instruction to become an asset in the specialty of their choosing. The Mission of the Public Safety Department is to provide a well-rounded educational experience with a concentration in the Domains of the Public Safety community. The Public Safety Department emphasizes a strong knowledge and comprehension base within one of the fields of study: Administration of Justice, Correctional Science, and Law Enforcement studies. The Public Safety Department also prepares students to continue their education through transfer to a higher degree program or certification training programs. These training programs meet or exceed the certification requirements for the State of California in the areas of Law Enforcement Training through the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.), and The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation through the Correctional Science Training Program. The Public Safety Department also provides testing that ensures each student graduates with the demonstrated Character, Knowledge, Problem Solving Abilities, Human Relation and Communication Skills and the Physical Skills necessary to meet the professional standards required of a Public Safety Professional.
