Developmental Preschool and Infant/Toddler Center

Our Philosophy for the Center

We believe children are unique individuals with unique personalities.  We value those differences and build on their interests and ideas.  We believe children learn primarily through play and exploration.

We also believe that children learn best when they feel comfortable, know what is expected of them, can experience success and are able to express themselves in a warm, secure and nurturing environment.  We strive to create an atmosphere of enthusiasm for learning.

We encourage:

  • Curiosity
  • Active problem solving
  • Creativity
  • Self-awareness
  • Positive socialization
  • Respect for others
  • Respect for the environment
  • Laughter

We also believe that parents and families are children's first and most important role models.  We promote an active partnership in the education of their children.

Preschool Curriculum

Imperial Valley College is a developmental preschool that provides an integrated educational experience, where opportunities are provided to meet the needs of the whole child.  Special curricular emphasis is given to language development, children's socialization, and the acquisition of problem-solving skills through active learning shared with supportive adults.  Each activity is based upon challenging the developing strengths of the new emerging ones.  Ample outdoor space with shaded areas provides opportunities for physical, cognitive, and social development allowing the outdoors to become an extension of the indoor classroom.

Infant and Toddler Curriculum

Imperial Valley College Infant and Toddler Curriculum incorporate ideas from the West Ed Curriculum.  We promote the development of security, exploration, and identity through the provision of trained, loving caregivers.
