Cap and Gown Information

You have been sent an email with the survey. For those who planned to participate in an in-person graduation and paid the graduation fee, you had the option to receive a refund or keep your cap and gown by completing the survey. If you failed to complete the survey, the source of the payment will be refunded, and you will not receive your cap & gown, diploma cover, and tassel. The deadline to complete the survey was Thursday, June 11, 2020. 

 

Regalia Distribution Days

If you purchased a cap and gown, distribution days will be held on a first come first served basis:

July 26 - Distribute graduation packets to students @ IVC bus stop 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
July 27 - Distribute graduation packets to students @ IVC bus stop 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
July 28 - Distribute graduation packets to students @ IVC bus stop 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Events

Our main goal is to celebrate you in the safest and most meaningful way possible. With this in mind, we are planning the following ways to celebrate you. Both the virtual commencement and the parade will allow for each graduate (regardless of whether you purchased a cap & gown) to be recognized in a way that can be viewed publicly by friends and family across our city, county, state, and nation. 

 

Graduation Recognition Week, July 13 - July 16, 2020

During graduation Recognition Week, we will be showcasing our graduates via social media as well as the Imperial Valley Press page, on a limited first-come-first-serve basis. We would like to showcase photos of school work, athletics, student events, student profiles, etc. So please! This is the time to brag about your accomplishments! We want to brag of your accomplishments too! We ask that you submit your accomplishments, profile photos, graduation photos, etc. to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with the title Graduation Recognition Week.

Please keep in mind that this is different from uploading your picture for the virtual commencement. 

 

Virtual Commencement Ceremony, July 30, 2020

You may register to participate once you receive an email from our vendor "This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it." to upload a photo, video, and some brief details, i.e. major, plans after college, etc.  The information will be compiled into a slide in the virtual commencement.  The video will be released on July 30 at 4:00 p.m.  Many of you may have seen quite a few commencement videos, our's will look similar to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWRH6IXtg4Q#action=share

Photo Guidelines 

You will be receiving an email to register to participate in our virtual commencement. The photo guidelines are: 

Graduation themed photos are encouraged!

File types are limited to .jpg, .png. Maximum file size is 5 MB. 

Photos:

  • high quality (have someone take a photo of you with your phone)
  • unaltered (no filters)
  • original (no pictures of printed pictures)
  • In a portrait (vertical) orientation. This means the image's height should be greater than its width
  • a photo where you are the only subject pictured in the photo 
  • Attire, gestures, and all photo content must be appropriate for a college commencement ceremony.
On-campus Commencement Ceremony Car Parade, July 30, 2020

Our on-campus car parade will allow graduates the recognition they deserve as they drive around the campus, it may be for your last time! Graduates will be encouraged to join the car parade that will also be live-streamed following the online virtual commencement celebration. Graduates can participate in the parade with their household members. The college will distribute diploma covers to each graduate that attends the car parade. Each graduate will also have the opportunity to walk across a stage as President/Superintendent, Dr. Martha Garcia recognizes your hard work. Join us as we celebrate you accomplishing your educational goal. To make things even more special for you, we will have Mariachi and a live DJ! We will be sending an RSVP in the coming weeks so keep an eye out for an email.
