 The next LVN application period will be September 1st – 30th for the Spring 2021 semester.  Bio 206 will be accepted online for the Summer 2020 session.  The Nursing office remains closed until further notice.

Advisement

To establish an educational path for LVN, students are advised to meet with the Nursing Program Counselor Stella Orfanos-Woo. Ms. Orfanos-Woo is located in the Counseling Department, Building 100, and can be reached by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. Prerequisites

Students must be a U.S. high school graduate or have completed the GED, be 18 years of age or older, in good health and able to lift minimum 35lb or more, and have met the prerequisite course work. Foreign high school transcripts or diplomas are not accepted and must be evaluated before applying.Completion of courses with a minimum 2.5 GPA meets eligibility to apply. Completion of Co-requisite PSY 204, Developmental Psychology (Lifespan) with a C or higher prior to applying is strongly recommended. Students who have fulfilled the prerequisite courses will have priority if there are more applications received than slots available.

*There are prerequisites to these courses – students should refer to the BIOL course descriptions in the College Catalog.

Selection

A random selection of applicants will be made by a Nursing Program Selection's Committee and a total of 24 applicants will be invited to join an LVN Class. Results are sent to applicants by email 30 to 45 days after the last day of the deadline period. If admitted, the following clearances will be necessary:

  • Background Check and Drug Screen
  • Physical exam
  • TB Screen
  • Immunizations (2-step MMR, Tdap, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and Influenza [during flu season])
  • BLS Card from American Heart Association

Cost

Costs include three (3) semesters of nursing classes and run approximately $4,025 to $4,400. This includes tuition, parking, student representation fees, uniform and accessories, lab fees, physical exam and immunizations, background check and drug screen, CPR, textbooks and materials, and the licensure application (NCLEX PN).
