WHAT?
IVC's K12 Tour Program is a 90 minute guided tour of the main campus with highlighted tour stops at Health Sciences Building, our new Art Gallery, the Library and Counseling Center and of course our state of the art new Science Building where students will experience a 20 minute show in our 360˚ planetarium.
WHEN?
All tours are on Fridays and we have room for four classes each tour date. The first tour starts promptly at 9:30am and will end at 11:00am; the second tour of the day will start at 11:30am and end at 1:00pm. Each tour will accommodate up to 80 students & chaperones (or roughly two classes).
Tours dates are: September 21, October 12 & 26, November 2 & 16, February 8 & 22, March 8 & 22, April 5 & 19, May 3
WHY?
Our purpose is twofold; primarily we want to engage Imperial Valley students at an early and critical age (i.e. 5th grade) with the idea of attending college and most notably IVC. Additionally as an educational institution we want to reinforce the academic goals and standards that your school is striving to meet. With the 5th grade science standards highlighting the solar system we believe that the tour of our planetarium and Science building as a whole will reinforce the elementary school districts academic goals and testing standards.
WHO?
We are targeting 2,000 5th grade students as well as parents and any chaperones. At IVC the tours will be coordinated through the Foundation Office and led by IVC's Student Ambassador Team. Additionally IVC staff and professors will often make presentations when available.
WHERE?
The tours will start and end on the north side of campus in front of the 2700 Building (see campus map).
