Get an Internship
Internships are designed to provide Imperial Valley College students with workplace experience and obtain new or enhanced skills.
Requirements:
- Must be a currently enrolled IVC student.
Types of Internships:
- Internship -Voluntary (Not for Credit)
- A program that is supervised by Internship & Work Experience Coordinator designed to assist students in acquiring work habits, attitudes, build industry connections and career awareness.
- No class is necessary and internship is on a voluntary basis.
- No minimum hours required.
- Paid and unpaid internships are available, but not guarantee.
- WE 210 - General Work Experience (Credit) (CSU)
- A sequence of on-the-job learning experiences designed to assist the student in acquiring desirable work habits, attitudes and career awareness. Current employment for volunteer/unpaid experience need not be related to the student's educational goal.
- One unit of credit is earned for each 60 hours of volunteer/unpaid work or 75 hours of paid work.
- Maximum of 3 units per session.
- Students must complete one other course in addition to Work Experience.
- Corequisite: Must be taken in conjunction with WE 201 Employment Readiness
- WE 220 - Internship (Credit) (CSU)
- A course that is supervised employment extending classroom-based occupational learning at an on-the-job learning site relating to the students' educational or occupational (major or career) goals.
- One unit of credit is earned for each 60 hours of volunteer/unpaid work or 75 hours of paid work.
- Maximum of 4 units per session.
- Students must complete one other course in addition to Work Experience.
- Corequisite: Must be taken in conjunction with WE 201 Employment Readiness
Process:
Internship -Voluntary (Not for Credit)
- Submit Student Internship Interest Form.
- You must create an updated resume approved by the Career Services Center.
- Create or activate College Central Network (CCN) account. CCN will give you access to internship opportunities.
- Schedule an appointment with Internship and Work Experience Coordinator at (760) 355-5721.
