Imperial Valley College will be holding a pair of commencement ceremonies Saturday in the DePaoli Sports Complex at the Imperial Valley College campus. 
 
Nearly 1,100 students will be earning an associate degree; more than 811 will be earning a certificate. 
 
The ceremonies will be at 9 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. With a continuing increase in the number of graduates, the college divided the ceremonies three years ago in order to accommodate the number of people seeking to attend.
 

Additional Information

  • Of the 1,080 graduates, 1,707 graduation petitions were received which means students are receiving multiple degrees --- the most with 7 degrees;
  • Of the 1,080 graduates who have petitioned for graduation, 592 are participating in commencement. This is a 10.86 percent increase in participation from 2017 and the largest class participating in the history of IVC;
  • The oldest graduate this year is 66 and the youngest is 18 years old;
  • The average age of the class of 2018 is 25 years of age;
  • In this year's graduating class approximately, 61 percent of the graduates are women and 38 percent men;
  • Thirty eight percent of the students are graduating with honors, attaining a 3.0 grade point average or better;
  • Eighteen percent of the graduates are graduating with distinction, with a 3.5 grade point average or higher, and 56 percent of the graduates have earned a 3.0 (B) or better;
  • In the graduating class, 53 are graduating with an Associate in Science Degree in Nursing;
  • In this year's graduating class there are 245 EOPS program participants;
  • The Student Support Services had 140 graduates this year;
  • This is the fifth Imperial Valley University Partnership graduating class from IVC with approximately 62 students;
  • There is a mother-daughter, aunt-nephew, uncle-nephew, brother-sister, two sisters and their brother, twin brothers, and other different family groups graduating together.
  • In the San Diego and Imperial County region, more than 25,000 degrees or certificates will be awarded this spring.
