Library Cards

An IVC identification card is used as a library card. Students may get one at no charge in the College Center. Non-students who wish to use the Library are charged a nominal fee for the card. For further information click here.

Circulation Period

Library materials can be checked out for four weeks and renewals are allowed, as long as no one else has requested the material. Pamphlet materials and DVDs can be checked out for one week. Library fines are assessed for overdue material. The borrower is responsible for any damage or loss of materials checked out in their name.

Placing a Hold

You may place a hold on a book that is checked out. When the book is returned, you will be notified. The book will be kept at the Circulation Desk under your name. If you do not pick it up in a reasonable amount of time, the book will be placed back on the shelf.

Book Returns

For your convenience there are book returns located around the campus. One is at the front entrance of campus near the walkway to the Administration Building, another is outside the entrance to the Library, and a third is just west of the 2700 building. In addition, there is a book return inside the library at the Circulation Desk. The three outside returns are accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and are emptied daily.

Overdue Books & Fines

A fine of ten cents per day per book or $1.00 per pamphlet or DVD, up to the cost of the material, will be charged for every day that it is late. Any money you owe could prevent you from registering for classes or receiving transcripts until the obligation is cleared with the Library. For further information click here.

Lost & Damaged Materials

Lost and Damaged Materials: If a book or other material is lost or damaged, you will be charged the price of the material plus a $10 fee. A refund, less the $10, will be given if you return the material within six months of payment. For further information click here.
