Imperial Valley College Transitions to Campus Closure, Level 3, Effective March 20th

In response to California Governor Gavin Newsom's stay-at-home order, Imperial Valley College (IVC) Leadership has determined to transition to a full campus closure, Level 3 effective Friday, March 20. This will continue until further notice.

The campus will be closed to all employees, students and the public. No face-to-face instruction will occur during this period. However, the majority of our courses have transitioned to be offered online or are in the process of being converted to online. In addition, student services are being offered online or via phone. All IVC employees are working remotely and can be contacted via email.

The transition is designed to limit exposure to COVID-19 by preventing large groups from assembling on campus, and this reflects the College's commitment to help combat the spread of Coronavirus. At this time, there have been no students or employees affected by COVID-19 at IVC.

The ICCD Board of Trustees approved a resolution on March 13 declaring an emergency due to COVID-19 and authorized Superintendent/President, Dr. Martha Garcia to take action even between board meetings, enabling her to make decisions through this rapidly evolving situation.

"This is a rapidly changing situation and we appreciate everyone's patience as college leadership works to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment for our students, employees and the community. I am extremely grateful to the IVC employees for their compassion and commitment to do what is necessary to teach and support our students through this difficult situation. Our hearts go out to those who are directly impacted by COVID-19" Garcia said.
