What is Web Accessibility?
A web page that is accessible can be accessed by everyone, including people with disabilities who may use specialized computer hardware and software.
An added benefit of accessible web pages is that they are much more usable by PDAs (personal digital assistants) and cell phones that can access the web. Designing for accessibility is designing for everyone!
If web pages are not developed with accessibility in mind, people with the following disabilities may have access problems:
- vision impairments
- hearing impairments
- motor impairments
- color blindness
- cognitive and developmental limitations
Can you imagine a student not being able to access her instructor's syllabus or other mandatory course materials online? What if she could not access IVC's financial aid web site or the IVC’s online class schedule?
Our goal is to make all IVC web pages universally accessible. Please help in this effort!
