ACADEMIC COUNSELING SERVICES
Academic Counseling is conducted to orient current and potential Imperial Valley College CalWORKs students of the various support services and academic programs offered at Imperial Valley College. The service is also provided to students attending other colleges or universities.
• Personal Counseling is conducted to identify barriers that may prevent them from pursuing and achieving their goals.
• Academic Counseling is provided to develop an academic plan of study for participants attending Imperial Valley College or any other college or university. The desired academic goal is reviewed to ensure that it meets the county’s criteria for approval.
• Academic Progress Monitoring is provided to ensure successful completion of their educational goal.
• Evaluation Reports are developed to identify and list their educational goals and determine how they will be accomplished.
• Follow-up Services are periodically provided to ensure student success and to provide additional assistance when warranted.
• Intervention/Referral Services are available to provide preventive measures and facilitate intervention at an early stage, when special needs such as domestic violence, mental health problems and chemical dependency are identified.
