English Courses 

Prerequisite for English and ESL classes

The student may meet the prerequisite requirement for English and ESL classes in the following manner, with the following conditions:

  1. Earn the approriate score for the course on the assessment tst for that area; OR
  2. Earn a grade of "C" or higher for the previous course in the sequence fo courses for that area, i.e. ESL, Reading, or Writing.

Students may use the end-of-semester assessment in Reading to earn a score high enough to skip one level or more when advancing in the Reading sequence. Note: End-of-Semester assessment test scores DO NOT allow a student to advance in the ESL, Reading, or Writing sequence of courses when a "D" or an "F" has been earned, in which case the student msut repeat the unsuccesful course.
