ASSESSMENT SERVICES
The following services are provided free of charge to CalWORKs participants.
• Orientation Services to inform participants of the assessment process.
• Vocational Assessment instruments used are TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) to determine grade levels in Math and Vocabulary/Reading Comprehension and SAGE (System for Assessment & Group Evaluation) designed to assess aptitudes, interests, temperaments, learning styles and work attitudes.
• Personal and Vocational Guidance Counseling is provided to discuss any issues or barriers that prevent them from becoming self sufficient. These issues are addressed individually and a referral is made to appropriate agencies dealing with their specific problems.
• Exit Interviews are conducted individually to review the overall assessment results with them. The Welfare-To-Work Plan is developed with them during this interview and includes appropriate training and referral recommendations.
• Comprehensive Evaluation Reports are developed for each participant to recommend appropriate placement based on their skills and abilities and referral services when needed. A Welfare-to-Work plan is developed for each participant and included on this report.
