Child, Family, & Consumer Sciences | | The Child, Family, and Consumer Sciences Program gives students the skills to be employed in an instructional or administrative capacity in early childhood education and related fields. IVC has fully-equipped, state-of-the-art preschool and infant centers that are the foundation of our demonstration/laboratory programs. The programs nurture the continuing growth of children's knowledge and understanding of themselves and their world.
In our joint program of instruction and services, which include childcare for the children of low income students, students complete their laboratory work and field experience in the demonstration centers.
We also provide a training resource for other agencies. For example, our Foster Care Training program provides training for foster parents and potential foster parents. This program is coordinated with the Imperial County Department of Social Services.
Our program also offers an Independent Living Program and a Department of Social Services Summer Independent Living Program. These programs are designed for foster care youth ages 16-18 with the goal of preparing them for living on their own when they become 18. | |
