  • To respect all people and cultures
  • To encourage excellence, offer a balanced curriculum, promote teaching methods for diverse learning styles, and involve and enrich our community.

The Child Development Program of courses integrates theory and practice to help students further their understanding of children.Through study and application students learn to communicate with children and families. Students will be able to function effectively in various types of early childhood programs.

Our department provides courses that provide lab experiences. Our college students have the benefit of our lab as part of our department which enables students to interact with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers with diverse needs and abilities thus covering the breadth of early childhood education. The lab experience helps students to take what they have learned from theory to application and practice. Our graduates are equipped to plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum, and to effectively assess children, curriculum and themselves.

Our Program standards are based on NAEYC Standards for Early Childhood Professional Preparation.
