Imperial Valley College, like other colleges and organizations, is actively engaged in efforts to prepare for and mitigate the impacts of COVID-19. Our top priority is to support the health and wellbeing of our community as we continue to advance teaching and learning.
Imperial Valley College continues to align our recommendations with and follow guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Imperial County Public Health Department and other city, state, and federal agencies.

April 20, 2020
Imperial Valley College is now open remotely after returning from Spring Break. Normal business hours have resumed remotely, meaning, all offices are available either via telephone or through Zoom.

Imperial Valley College will be closed for Spring Recess April 13th - 18th. Normal business hours will resume remotely on Monday, April 20th, 2020. The County of Imperial and Imperial County Public Health Department recently released a Health Officer Order that requires the use of face coverings in public spaces or risk being fined. Please click here for additional information on face coverings, as recommended by the CDC.
April 3, 2020
Imperial Valley College will return to a modified Level 2 closure effective April 7, 2020. After careful consideration, Imperial Valley College Leadership determined to continue to offer instruction online for the remainder of Spring 2020 and Summer 2020. This decision is made in alignment with the recommendations from the federal government, state government and the California Community College Chancellor's Office. In addition, the Imperial County Health Officer issued an "Amended Stay at Home ORder" on April 1, 2020, which will remain in effect until further notice. Vice President of Student Services, Dr. Johnson and a panel of hosts held a Live Student Virtual Forum. The panel provided an overview of student services available to students remotely as well as academic questions or concerns. The panel consisted of Vikki Carr of A&R, Norma Nava of DSP&S, Dr. Covarrubias of Counseling, Lupita Castro of Student Health Center, Dr. Tafoya of Instruction, Lisa Seals of Financial Aid and Josue Verduzco of Tutoring.

I hope you are well. I am grateful to all of you for remaining calm and being patient. Please know that I understand that you have concerns about the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). IVC leadership shares those concerns and considers the health and safety of our entire campus community a top priority. We are preparing now in case a full or partial campus closure is necessary. While we want to be prepared in the event of the need for campus closure, it is important to emphasize that as of today, there have been no positive cases of Coronavirus at Imperial Valley College. Imperial Valley College has developed a preliminary emergency action plan in connection with the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19). As of right now, the campus is open and offering instruction and services. The Emergency Action Plan stipulates that the campus will close up to three weeks and transition to offer most instruction online should a student, faculty or staff be confirmed with COVID-19. The college is communicating with the campus community and following the Center for Disease Control and Prevention health guidelines on practicing good hygiene throughout the campus.
