[ GeneralInformation ] Prospective Nursing Students: Thank you for your interest in the Associate Degree Registered Nursing Program at Imperial Valley College. The program has been in existence since 1971 and is accredited by the California Board of Registered Nursing. Students who are in good health, 18 years of age or older, and meet the admission criteria are eligible to apply. The program is a two (2)-year program and upon completion of all degree requirements, graduates are awarded an Associate of Science Degree in Registered Nursing and become eligible to apply for the NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure examination for Registered Nursing). Applications are accepted twice a year during the following periods: March 1-31 for Fall Admission September 1-30 for Spring Admission The TEAS (Test for Essential Academic Skills) www.atitesting.com entrance exam will be required. The TEAS should be taken when all prerequisites have been completed. The IVC Nursing Learning Center offers the TEAS during application periods. For an appointment, call 1-760-355-6530. IVC TEAS Policy The program is open to transfer and LVN to RN students pending completion of requirements and space availability. LVN to RN students can apply for the AS degree or 30-Unit option. Students seeking the Associate Degree option must meet admission criteria and complete a NURS 204 Transition Course. California LVNs may also apply for the CA Board of Registered Nursing’s 30-Unit Option but are not considered graduates of the College. Transfer students must complete a Transfer Form from their previous nursing program. Students are advised to meet or contact the Nursing & Allied Health Counselor to review all course work. Students are selected into the program based on a point system using the Admission Criteria grid. Students not selected must reapply. Applicants are notified by email of results 30 days after the deadline. Students enrolled in the IVC VN Program are not invited to apply Effective January 01, 2012 – Students enrolled or have accepted a seat into any other IVC nursing program, will be ineligible to receive an invitation to the Nursing Program. Students wishing to apply to the Nursing Program must apply for an entry date which does not conflict with the completion of the program you are currently in.
