 Tutoring

During the academic year, students obtain academic and instructional support services from their Instructional Mentors who are college graduates.

The Upward Bound tutoring centers at each High School are open from 3:00 – 5:30 p.m. Four days out of the week (varies by school). Students can receive instruction in general education courses including Math, English, Science, etc. at all levels. Students can also form their own study groups at the centers and focus on such endeavors as class projects, SAT/ACT preparation, or group discussions.

Upward Bound Participants are REQUIRED to attend tutoring for 5 hours a week,  20 hours a month. This requirement must still be completed if the student does not have homework. Please note that students who maintain a low GPA will be required more tutoring hours.  Instructional mentors are always available to help students with their educational preparation.

Please note that joining Upward Bound does not mean that you can’t have other activities, sports, or a job. Program students are encouraged to be part of other groups as extracurricular activities are expected from today’s college applicants.
